In the neighborhood of the Palais Royale in Paris: tantalizing luxury perfumes by BDK Parfums with history
The face behind the brand BDK Parfums is David Benedek. In 1989 he was born in Paris and since then lived in the universe of perfume. Today he is one of the youngest perfume designers in the luxury perfume industry. His grandparents passed on their passion to him. They were exiles from Transylvania and built a new life in Paris. In the 1950s, they were one of the first perfume distributors allowed to distribute perfume in Paris, including major brands such as Worth and Christian Dior. Later, however, they focused on selling to travelers. Fine luxury perfumes and niche products that Paris had to offer formed their assortment and made them famous. Then, in the 1960s, they opened their first boutique on the corner of Rue Royal and Rue Saint Honoré. They always refined their passion, expertise and salesmanship and passed it on to their grandson David.
David Benedek first plunged into studies in business and management. He studied in New York and Beijing before returning to France and joining the Institut Français de la Mode in 2012. That was the starting point of his career in the perfume world, but his interest in perfume goes way back to his childhood. The founder of BDK Parfums says that his grandmother inspired him about the world of perfume. She told him a story about each of her perfumes and he set that as the goal of his vocation.
His study of raw materials, the different families of fragrances and the dosage of concentration for certain perfume blends spanned over a year. Side by side with one of the world's greatest perfumers Givaudan and the Parfuminstitut Cinquième Sens, he learned the art of perfumery by heart and an insatiable desire to create his own luxury perfumes stirred within him.
Thus, in 2016, Maison de Parfums BDK Parfums was born and a family tradition was continued.
From now on, the exceptional premium perfumes are created in the first district of Paris. In close proximity is the magnificent Palais Royal and the picturesque and beautiful garden landscape – the perfect idyll and inspiration for the unique fragrances of BDK Parfums. For the creation of his special niche fragrances from Paris, he collaborates with world-renowned niche perfumers, including Mathilde Bijaoui, Amélie Bourgeois, Camille Leguay, Cécile Matton, Serge Majouillier and Violaine Collas.

In search of special raw materials of the highest quality, the BDK Parfums fragrance house in Grasse, France, creates concentrates from all raw materials, which are then processed into the exquisite luxury perfumes. The creative creation process is never stopped prematurely, but the work is only finished when all raw materials are in a harmonious balance and a balanced fragrance is created.
BDK Parfums' exceptional luxury perfumes for men and women are all "Made in France". The niche brand incorporates the savoir-faire of french craftsmanship and the art of perfumery in its production, so that all exclusive luxury fragrances come from the perfume capital itself. The elegant perfume bottle with its gold or black cap represents the craftsmanship and perfume art of a city that stands for creative work and freedom.
Beveled edges, specially crafted by a master glassblower, define the minimalist and elegant perfume bottle. After it is made, it is fired, resulting in a rare transparency. The translucent bottle emphasizes the color of the contained fragrance in a special way and makes it shine - even before the fragrance is sprayed, a true spectacle of art. The hand-applied label is also produced locally, in a print shop in Marais.
The bottle closure was designed by a master goldsmith from Paris. He took inspiration for the shape from the dome of the Grand Palais in Paris. This awe-inspiring building is home to a number of french treasures – and just as the dome of the Grand Palais protects the treasures, the golden bottle cap holds the exquisite luxury fragrances of BDK Parfums.
Regarding the raw materials, BDK Parfums Paris founder David Benedek has an absolute favorite among them: Musk.
The many facets of the ingredient, whether pure and clean or animalic and wild – there is something about the very penetrating yet softly sensual raw material that is addictive, according to Benedek.
